Macy's - Brandon, FL

Macy's #833
638 Brandon Town Center Drive, Brandon, FL - Westfield Brandon Mall

Originally opened as a Burdines store in 1995, and converted to Macy's in 2005.

The exterior and the palm trees (see next photo) are original to Burdines, with an exception of the Macy's logo.

Burdines is The Florida Store! Macy's is the magic of Burdines!

The palm trees are still standing, 25 years later!

Let's enter through these doors and see if any elements from Burdines remain!

Because that this Macy's is 2 floors, there is an elevator and an escalator. I am calling this the atrium.

A quick look at the directory before we go up to level 2.

Ready to go up to floor 2? The elevator is open, so let's magically go up to the top!

And here is level 2, with an overview of the atrium, complete with Burdines palm trees, and Burdines elevators and escalators! After all, you are basically in a Burdines store, 15 years after closure!

I spotted this price scanner with the Windows desktop visible, the operating system is Windows 7 designed for compact computers, also known as Windows Embedded Compact 7. The operating system has since reached it's end of support.

Straight ahead is elevator and escalator access. This was seen from the children's department on level 2.

Tile separates the sections into two sides, one on the left, and another on the right.

This is our final photo on level 2 before we take the elevator down to 1.

Now going down to level 1...

...and here is the first floor! You can't get enough Burdines than this!

And finally, the mall entrance into the Macy's store.

  1. Cool Macy's! Glad they left Burdine's old decor behind.

  2. From what I've seen online of its (former) stores, Burdine's looks like it would have been a very cool place. I love the Floridian architecture.
