A Retro Publix in Miami Beach! (Store #91)

(All photos except the last are courtesy of Google Maps) Publix #91 1045 Dade Blvd, Miami Beach, FL. Opened on April 23, 1963 as a Publix Wing Store and is one of the last in the chain that has never expanded or remodeled in the Miami area. Even though that this might not be the oldest Publix in the chain, it's 3 years ahead of store #50, which opened in 1959! Coexists with another Publix (store 621, opened 1998) 0.4 miles to the west. You can't get any classic Publix like this! 1960's-style letters and the winged exterior! Store 91 is 24,000 square feet, while store 621 (multi-level) is 54,295 square feet. This ATM machine was added between the late 1980's and the early 1990's, as there were no Presto ATMs before 1984. Publix, where shopping has been a pleasure since 1930! Welcome back to GTB Retail after 3 months on break! To start off, why not go into a fiesta of supermarkets with this former Winn-Dixie store? Winn-Dixie #2300/SaveRite #2656/Winn-Dixie #2656/Lotte Plaza Market 3191 West Colonial Drive, Orlando, FL Opened in 1960 as Winn-Dixie #2300 and received an expansion and remodel in the late 1990's. This Winn-Dixie store was converted to SaveRite in 2000 and reopened as store #2656. In 2011, after Winn-Dixie decided to retire the SaveRite name, this location and 5 others were converted back into Winn-Dixie stores. This location reopened as Winn-Dixie #2656. After 54 years serving West Colonial Drive, Winn-Dixie #2656 closed in November 2014. The PHARMACY and LIQUOR signage are original to Winn-Dixie's exterior remodeling and expansion in the 1990's.
