An Interesting 1990's Publix - Atlanta, GA.
Publix opened their first Georgia location (store #412) on November 20, 1991. That store lasted for 14 years until closing in 2005.
Being a 70,000 square foot location, this is a larger-format early 1990's Publix supermarket. The normal stores would have been in the 45,000 to 50,000 square-foot range.
Another grand opening photo of the same store, which must have been taken at 7 or 8 in the morning.
I think that when store 412 opened, the interior would have looked like this, with pastel colors and frames.
Enough about the first Georgia Publix, let's move on to a currently-operating store!
Publix #536
2451 Cumberland Parkway SE, Atlanta, GA.
This Publix opened in 1996, and is a 65,000 square-foot early 1990's Publix supermarket. Another similar Publix store can be found in this AFB blog post.
The next 5 pictures are from this store's second and most recent remodel in 2011/2012.
The deli and bakery was undergoing a massive renovation as a result of this remodel. You will see the finished product later on in this set.
Fine wines and Kiwi décor! This store was first remodeled between 2005 and 2007.
Meats and seafood to the right, straight ahead are grocery aisles and dairy.
And now for the last picture during the remodel, let's jump to the finished product!
In 2013, this Publix store got a fresh coat of paint, even for the main sign out front!
Let's grab a shopping cart and start to walk around the store...
Welcome to Publix #536!
In the new shopping cart return area, there's the green beans, but the actual welcome sign is above the second set of doors.
Stepping inside, we are greeted with an early version of the Sienna interior and prototype aisle signs! There is also every single feature that you would normally find in newer Publix stores which has been put into this building.
You are inside Publix, looking at a picture of an apple with the company's logo.
Looking towards the Publix Deli and the restrooms after seeing the circular logo.
During the 2012 remodel, this Publix even got it's own cheese counter, a feature that you would normally find at deluxe Publix stores, such as store #1398, featured in an MFR blog post.
The Publix deli sells Boar's Head products, a brand exclusively sold at Publix stores since 1994.
The larger-format Publix stores even have a dining/café area where you can eat an item from the Publix deli or bakery only.
Our first look at the actual dining area, complete with a large selection of tables and is even an internet hotspot!
Looking at the main part of the store from the dining area.
Another look at the specialty cheese counter and the front end of the store. You can even see the large skylight above the cheese counter!
The store's first aisle (which is not numbered 1) is mostly home to wine and beer products, and the entire length of the Publix bakery.
At the end of the wine/bakery aisle, is the store's meat and seafood counters.
The store's first marked aisle contains cold cuts and beverages/sports drinks.
Aisle 7 is home to frozen foods.
Looking towards aisles 8 to 15. Notice something different about the aisle signage? This is a prototype store, so the shape of the aisle sign is the same one as used in Invigorate, and the wood background would eventually be used in the 2013 version of the Sienna interior.
Aisle 11 is home to paper products, while the next aisle over (12) is home to household products.
Now to aisle 13. Beverages and snacks can be found in this aisle.
This picture gives us an overview of one of the health/beauty aisles inside store 536.
Aisle 15 is the last aisle in the store. Produce, breads, and peanut butter can be found in this aisle.
Another look at the pharmacy, this time from checkout number 2.
Overhead signage for frozen foods, which takes up aisles 6 and 7 in the store.
There are a total of 11 checkouts in this store, plus a couple of self lanes.
Thank you for shopping at Publix #536,
and to whichever grocery store that I will go to next...

Eeeeee, thanks, this is my other local store besides 753. Next, go look at some A&P Publix's. Nowadays, the aisles swapped again in 2018 and actually got 3.0 aisles. If you search up Publix Captain Planet. There's a whole good amount of photos back when the store had CM1.0. Also there's a rare prototype of a warehouse ceiling 90s stores that look like drop ceiling stores. (226 and 451. 280 had that but remodeled), you can look at those too.
