Publix #1321 - St. Petersburg, FL

Summer break just concluded, so now I am back to posting after 2 months of inactivity.

Albertsons #4311/Publix #1321
3030 54th Ave. South, St. Petersburg, FL - Seville Square

Opened in 1976 as Albertsons #4311. This store received two remodels, one in 1988 and another in 2001. The 2001 remodel was done in order to bring this Albertsons into the Plaza store design, such as relocating liquors from the side of the store to the front, and changing the store's interior from Blue & Gray Market to Grocery Palace.

Then come to 2008: This and 48 other Albertsons stores in Florida were sold to Publix Supermarkets, and store 4311 reopened as Publix #1321 on January 15, 2009.

Publix #1321 coexists with another Publix (store #1541) one-half mile to the west. That store was rebuilt from an older Publix (store #259) that existed on the same site.

Stepping inside, we can see traces of Albertsons interior that Publix left behind! You can also see the Publix welcome sign to the right of this picture.

When Publix #1321 opened in 2009, this store had the Invigorate interior. That lasted until 2016 when Publix remodeled this store into the Sienna interior.

Here is the Publix Deli, which would have been the meal center during the Albertsons era.

Albertsons' overhead lighting fixtures from 1976 remain in use to this day.

Located after the deli, is the bakery and produce sections. Publix even kept the spotlights from Albertsons' Grocery Palace décor as well!

Here is aisle 1 with produce and drinks.

Looking towards the back right corner of the store with aisles 8 to 15 on the right side and Publix's departments to the left.

You can also see where prepackaged foods are located in an alcove after the seafood section ends.

Aisle 8 features a beer cooler as well as regular groceries. The cooler to the right would have been walk-in during the Albertsons era.

Off to aisle 14, which has pool supplies and frozen foods. Due to the dairy coolers being in the same position as the lower ceiling, this store did not get Albertsons' dairy barn treatment.

Aisle 15 features a lower ceiling, which is a common trait from Albertsons' Grocery Palace interior design.

Located after aisle 15, we find the wine & beer section, which is in the approximate location of Albertsons' pharmacy from 1976 to 2001.

Publix #1321 has a total of 10 checkouts with 4 express lanes and 6 regular checkouts.

The customer service and floral departments are also visible here.

In this picture, you can see how Publix (and possibly Albertsons) added secondary aisles due to this store's large footprint.

The dairy/frozen foods ceiling transition is clearly visible here.

Approaching the front left corner of the store, with the remaining 6 aisles shown here.

Here is aisle 4 and Publix's pharmacy. Again, you can see Grocery Palace interior décor that Publix slightly modified once Albertsons left the premises.

And a closer look at the pharmacy and floral departments from one of the health/beauty aisles.

Our second and final look at floral, this time from the approximate location of checkout lane 1.

Thank you for shopping at Publix #1321!

And to conclude our tour of Publix #1321, here is a picture of the liquor store that Albertsons built during the 2001 remodel.
