Quick Tour of Publix #1373 - Tampa, FL

Welcome to 2026 here on the GTB Area Retail Blog! To start off the new year (and for my first post in 7 months), here is a quick tour of Publix #1373 in the Tampa Palms area.

This first-generation 54M model Publix supermarket (54,330 square feet) opened on August 12, 2010 and replaced Publix #344 (a 55,000 square foot "combination store") that opened on August 4, 1988 and closed in early 2010. If you don't know on what makes the 54M-1 stores different from the 54M-2, the 54M-1 is essentially a larger version of the 45M with the same layout. Publix Liquors #1373 was added next to the main store upon its opening.

Store 1373 originally opened with the Bamboo Environment Package and received two remodels: Sienna in 2014 and Evergreen in 2021.

The opening dates for both stores can be found below, the first is from Docketbird (Association for Disabled Americans v. Publix Super Markets) and the second is from Publix's website in 2010 on the Wayback Machine.

Heading inside, this part of aisle 7 has pet supplies while the other part that isn't shown has air filters, batteries, light bulbs, and school supplies.

The back left corner of the store has dairy products which transition into health & beauty as you approach the pharmacy on the last aisle.

Another thing that makes the 54M-1 stores different than the 54M-2 is the increased aisle count (19 vs. 15). Since Publix #1373 was remodeled into Evergreen from Sienna, the existing tri-sided frame was reused but had new numbers and placards put in. The same colored frame was also used in new-build stores with the Evergreen Environment Package until 2021.

Here is the health & beauty portion of aisle 19 with the pharmacy straight ahead. The counters face the front end of aisle 18.

And to conclude this post, here is something that I have never seen on an Evergreen checkout sign until now, where the number is placed on top of the express lane graphic! Normally, the number can be found below it.
