Publix #315/Future LA Fitness
855 E Bloomingdale Ave, Brandon, FL - Bloomingdale Square
This Publix opened in 1986 and received remodels over the years. This Publix will become an LA Fitness after Publix store #1681 opens.
This is the only grocery store left on East Bloomingdale Avenue due to the closing of Winn-Dixie #676. A post regarding that store can be found here.
This store was built to match the 1980's style shopping center.
The entry vestibule from the right side door. Up ahead is the left exit door, and to the right is the main entrance. There is no Welcome to Publix sign at this store.

Albertsons Florida Blog, this may remind you of Publix #107! This placement of the customer service desk is common in single-vestibule Publix stores used until 1987.
Like all 1980's Publix stores, dairy is located on aisle 1.
The deli is to the right, and the grocery aisles are to the left. Produce is located at the end of aisle 14.
Aisles 3-10 have a higher ceiling above the grocery aisles. This is aisle 3.
Aisle 4, with the deli department straight ahead.
Drinks and school supplies are in aisle 9.

This Publix Pharmacy was a 2017 addition, and was originally the wine department from 1986 to 2017.

Signage for seafood and the produce departments. We will see more of the produce department later on in this post.
Frozen foods start on aisle 13. This store still has the 2008-style endcaps for frozen foods!
Along with the pharmacy, the Publix Bakery was partially remodeled in 2017.
Aisle 14 marks the end of frozen foods and the start of produce.

One final look at the grocery aisles before we check out.
The store's 7 (6 lanes are shown) checkouts.
Thank you for shopping Publix, where shopping is a pleasure!
A poster for things that was founded 22 years ago in 1998, for use in 2020. Do you remember "Seinfeld"? The show aired on NBC from 1989 to 1998, and Google was also founded in 1998.
Now exiting Publix #315, but there's more in this post!
Former Walmart #941 (first location)/Future Publix #1681/Future Home Centric
949 E Bloomingdale Ave, Brandon, FL - Bloomingdale Square
Opened in 1986 as the original Walmart #941, and closed on March 8, 2016 after 30 years in business. After sitting vacant for almost 3 years, the former Walmart space will become Publix #1681 and Home Centric, a home goods store operated by Bealls.

These shops are still open during the remodel of the new Publix/Home Centric. Hair Cutter(y) is one of the stores that are still open.
Nice post, and great photos! Glad you were able to photograph this store before it relocated; I like how it looks. The "22 years" poster is cool too - I'm also from 1998 :) - but I'm a bit confused on how they came up with that figure... 1998 was 21 years ago, not 22!
ReplyDeleteIt’s crazy, today was their last day open! Tomorrow they open the new store at 949 E Bloomingdale Ave.
