The New Publix #1670 - Lithia, FL

Publix #1670
5655 Circa Fishhawk Blvd, Lithia, FL - Alafia Commons

Publix #1670 opened on July 18, 2019 as a part of the new Alafia Commons shopping center. The store includes a drive thru pharmacy and a liquor store.

In late June 2019 when I was going to the Lithia Winn-Dixie, I saw this new Publix building with all of the signs facing Fishhawk Boulevard.

This photo was taken on June 22, 2019 as if the store were ready for business.

About 4 weeks later, Publix #1670 officially opened to the public! The rest of these photos during the post are from August 9th and August 26th of this year.

Before moving on with the rest of the photos, here is one taken during the store's grand opening, along with Now Open signs and a Publix display of food items.

Now that we have the grand opening stuff out of the way, let's move on to post-grand opening photos with the exterior of the store!

After seeing the exterior of the store, let's officially enter Publix #1670! Also note the different doors used for the entrance and exit. Normally, these doors would be the common Stanley automatic doors.

Welcome to Publix #1670! Do you notice the ceiling transition from drop to exposed? This is because that the cart storage area was probably added before the rest of the store was finished.

Because this is a typical 45M Publix store, the bakery is placed in the lower right hand corner of the store, before the deli.

The location for the bakery has been the same since 1997.

The Publix Deli, home of the Pub Subs and other prepared food items.

Newer Publix stores have a grab & go section, but at store 1670, the selection is not as wide compared to the 54M stores.

This was also aisle 1 in the store.

Aisle 1 is placed in a common Publix store layout, with canned fruits and produce taking up this aisle.

The store's produce department is located in an alcove that is off of aisle 1 at the end of the deli.

Located to the left after produce, you will see the seafood department, followed by meats.

Aisle 2.

Aisle 3.

Now looking from the center aisle across the front of the store, with grocery aisles and it's corresponding signs.

Aisle 5.

Aisle 6. The meat department is at the end of this aisle.

Our final look at the combined meat and seafood counters.

Aisle 7, with the customer service counter straight ahead at the end of this aisle.

The updated customer service counter was one of the only modifications made to the Sienna interior since it's introduction in 2010.

In the newer stores, there are two separate sides of customer services, this is the gift card section.

Looking down towards the rear of the store with frozen food aisles and the meat department visible. Produce is straight ahead.

Aisle 11 (along with aisle 10) is an example of a frozen foods aisle.

Turning the camera 180 degrees, we now have a look at the aisle signs towards the dairy department.

Aisle 15 is mostly home to health and beauty products. Also note the new pharmacy signage with the Circle-P logo.

Closeup of dairy signage. The letters are actually made of foam, as described in "The Closing of a Publix" on MFR.

MFR stands for My Florida Retail.

Aisle 16 is the last aisle in the store.

One last look at aisle signage and the pharmacy before we check out.

Publix #1670's 6 regular checkouts, along with 4 self checkouts and 2 express lanes, with a total checkout count of 12.

A Publix advertisement on the store's checkout lanes, about the new store's grand opening. But we already entered the store, so no need for another welcome!

The entire length of the pharmacy, as seen from checkout 2.

Two out of the six self checkouts in this store are pictured here. Originally, the self checkouts at Publix stores were the U-Scans by a company called Fujitsu. Now the company who makes these self checkouts is called National Cash Register or NCR for short.

Thank you for shopping at Publix #1670! I really like the placement of the thank you sign being close to the exit doors!

Publix #1670's primary exit door, with the word EXIT on top.

Even though that this concludes our inside tour of the store, there are more outside pictures of #1670!

Signs for the pharmacy drive thru, and one of the road signs with Publix's logo.

The same road sign as before, only zoomed in.

The store's placement of the drive-thru. Customers will have to enter where the arrow facing upward is located to access the drive-thru at store #1670.

Good night from Publix #1670! We hope to see you again soon!
