We are... Meatbay! (Part 2)

After taking a nearly 2 month blog break, posting is back on GTB Retail! This time, we are covering one of the former Sweetbay stores located near Westchase.

Sweetbay Supermarket #1930/Winn-Dixie #2517
13016 Race Track Rd, Tampa, FL

Originally opened in 2005 as Sweetbay Supermarket #1930, and was a ground-up location (not those Food Lion or Kash n' Karry buildings). Sweetbay lasted until the 2014 purchase by BI-LO Holdings (now Southeastern Grocers) and later converted this store to Winn-Dixie, and reopened as store #2517.

This can also be "Kevin's Store", because the Sweetbay Supermarket advertisements were filmed here. Kevin comes from the "Meatbay Butcher".

Now entering the store from the main entrance. The 13016 the store's address, and is 2005 original.

Sweetbay put in a lot of natural light in this building, but we still haven't fully entered the store yet. Are there any Sweetbay decor relics? Let's find out!

This store still has the Sweetbay interior from 2005! In this era of Sweetbay stores, produce is split into two sections. Some modifications were changing Harvest Market to Produce Market, and Butcher Shop to Winn-Dixie's slogan: The Beef People!

The store's bakery, which also has a selection of bread! Also note the full service counter. Older Kash n' Karry/Food Lion stores do not have a full service bakery. See here for an example. The font is a mix of Georgia and Highway Gothic.

Located next to the bakery, is the store's deli department. The Pizza Hut-style alcove to the right is actually the "Fire Works Roastery".

The store's seafood department. All of the fonts and tile backsplash are original to Sweetbay. If this were a remodeled location, then this would feel like a Winn-Dixie and not a Sweetbay Supermarket.

The meat service counter, home to Custom Cut M_ats (the E is leaning in Meats).

Notice how the M and the E look like a Dell logo?

Now looking at aisle 1, which is aisle 3 if you count the unnumbered aisles in this store.

Aisle 5.

Aisle 9 is home to paper products and other household items.

The two sides of the dairy department (although blocked by that Pop Tarts display).

Aisle 11 is the first aisle dedicated to frozen foods, with the former pharmacy straight ahead.

Health and beauty aisles, and the walled off pharmacy department. When Winn-Dixie announced the closings of pharmacies in November 2016, customers did not have any notice until after the pharmacy closed. The prescriptions in this store were transferred to a nearby CVS.

How about one shot of the final aisle in this store, complete with an Aisle 12 sign for Retail Retell!

Checkouts 1 to 6 in the store. Lanes 2 and 3 are express lanes with a limit of 20 items.

Combined checkout/customer service counter. I am calling this "checkout lane 7".

Overview of Sweetbay's aisle signage, as looking from the end of checkout 3.

Thank you signs means that our inside tour has completed, and now we are heading for the exit!

Now we have fully exited this "Sweet-Dixie", with our final photo being the main exit/liquor store combo. The liquor store is considered separate from the main store.
