Publix #663 - Brandon, FL
Publix #663
11255 Causeway Blvd, Brandon, FL - Lake Brandon Plaza
This Publix store opened in 1998. Some other tenants in this plaza were CompUSA/Tiger Direct (now Total Wine), JOANN, and Babies "R" Us (now Nordstrom Rack), which also opened in the same year as this Publix.
The store model that you are seeing here is a variation of an early 2000's model Publix supermarket for the larger format stores. I call it the mid-range model Publix.
Due to an upcoming summer break, this will be the second to last regular post for the month of June.
In these larger format 2000's stores, the entrance is facing straight, while the exit doors are at an angle to accommodate the passenger pickup area or a drive-thru pharmacy. The main sets of doors are also at an angle.
Welcome to Publix #663!
Floral is the first department that you see after entering the store. It's interesting to note that this middle section is split in half due to the placement of floral. Produce and groceries are on the left side, while the deli department and dining area are on the right.
In a typical Mid-Range Model Publix, the deli is shared with the dining area. The bakery is in a completely separate part of the store.
The meat service counter, home to prepackaged and custom made meats. The door that you see under the word CUSTOM is for the seafood department.
Dairy runs along the back of aisles 6 to 17 in the store.
This photo shows the separation between grocery aisles 13 to 17 and the rest of the dairy department, which begins to transition into frozen foods once you approach aisle 17.
Aisle 17, which is the last grocery aisle in the store.
These mid-range model Publix stores have two locations for the pharmacy. The most common design is the pharmacy being consolidated into an island located along aisle 3. The secondary design is the one pictured above, where the pharmacy is in a more convenient location shared with a drive-thru.
Which pharmacy design do you like better? Comment with your choice below!
Publix #663 has a total of 10 checkouts, with 7 regular lanes and 3 being express.
It’s interesting to note that customer service was moved into an island rather than being placed to the right of the exit doors.
Thank you for shopping at Publix #663!
I would say a pharmacy with a drive-thru is better.
