A Modern Winn-Dixie - Tampa, FL (CVS included!)

Kash n' Karry #1748/Sweetbay Supermarket #1748/Winn-Dixie #2433
2100 W. Swann Ave, Tampa, FL

Opened in 1992 as Kash n' Karry #1748. After the 2004 buyout of Food Lion and KNK, this store and others across Tampa were converted into the newly established Sweetbay Supermarket. All of their stores kept the location numbers from the Kash n' Karry era. In 2014, this store was converted to a Winn-Dixie and reopened as store #2433. A major remodel occurred around May 2016 and was completed on October 20th of that year, bringing this store into the newer prototypes that was initially seen at store #7 in Jacksonville.

The exterior seen here is from the first exterior remodel in 2006 from Sweetbay Supermarket, and is currently painted red. This store lost it's pharmacy during the 2016 remodel.

Now this is a first for me: A Winn-Dixie grocery store that offers delivery and catering!

You might think that Winn-Dixie stores are stuck in a time warp, but this store certainly looks more modern! Let's head inside!

Here is one of the welcome signs in the store, this one adds local flair by including black and white images of Tampa, Florida.

And the rather basic welcome sign on the other side of the wall.

"This is a Winn-Dixie?!"

Newly updated floors, interiors, and ceilings makes the other stores look like something from the 1990's!

Turning around 180 degrees, we can see the floral department that is next to customer service.

Winn-Dixie's kitchen, where all items are made in-store. From sandwiches to pizza to entrees, Winn-Dixie is the place to go!

Located next to the deli, is Winn-Dixie's cafe.

I do not have a confirmed layout from the Kash n' Karry days, but the current location of the bakery might have been the pharmacy.

Seafood is the first department that is located in the back of the store.

Immediately located after seafood, is the store’s meat counter and service window.

Specialty cheeses are located in this section of the store.

Aisles 1 to 3 are home to organic products as indicated by the Naturally Better sign on top.

Now to the first marked aisle in the store, which is aisle 4.

Here is aisle 6. You might notice that deli sign located in the back, that section is home to deli meats and cheeses. The actual deli is located in The Kitchen.

Aisle 7.

Dairy is located at the back end of aisle 11, and transitions over to the back wall. The other side of dairy is home to milk products.

The spotlights, polished floors, and newly updated refrigerated cases make this a modern Winn-Dixie!

Pictured here is aisle 11, which is the last aisle in the store.

There is no room to put a pharmacy in this store due to the large service counters, but here is the health/beauty section of the store.

Looking towards the checkouts. If I remember correctly, there are about 6 checkouts in this store.

Thank you for shopping at Winn-Dixie #2433, although the letter T in thank you is out of frame to the left.

If you look closely, you can see the liquor store and it’s entrance.

The primary exit for the main store and the secondary entrance for the liquor store.

Here is the road sign facing Swann Avenue, which is original to this store’s days as a Kash n' Karry.

And now to a nearby CVS drugstore...

Eckerd #2877/CVS #3930
611 S. Howard Ave, Tampa, FL

Opened in 1998 as Eckerd #2877. Sold to CVS in 2004 and became store #3930.

From a Kash n' Karry to a modern looking Winn-Dixie, this post is a must see for retail enthusiasts!

  1. Fantastic looking Winn-Dixie! I love how the signage isn't as basic as other Down Down remodels; there are different patterns and textures at the kitchen, bakery, and coffee counters, and even the regular department signs have red corrugated metal backgrounds instead of the usual simple red paint. Looks great!
