The Perfect 80's Winn-Dixie: Store #652 - Brooksville, FL

Winn-Dixie #652
31100 Cortez Blvd, Brooksville, FL - Sunrise Plaza

Winn-Dixie #652 opened in 1991, and was expanded in 1995.

The outside has the usual Marketplace signage, along with an awning that says Welcome to Winn-Dixie. All of that is from the 1990s and not the 2010s!

Welcome to Winn-Dixie! There were originally two entrances in this store, but due to the Coinstar machine, there is only 1 entrance.

Winn-Dixie's main entrance door.

Now located where you can get your carts was originally a 1 hour photo center.

Winn-Dixie's wine and beer department, named as "Beverage Center".

Located after wine/beer and turning left, you will see the deli department.

Grocery aisles and the combined meat/seafood counter are seen here.

The word "Meat & Fish" has no neon lighting, even though that there are tubes.

Winn-Dixie aisle signage, used from 2000 to 2005 at remodeled and new locations. This was a common aisle signage replacement at older Winn-Dixie stores. The original aisle markers can be found via this link.

Aisle 16, or aisle 18 if you count the frozen food aisles, is home to a portion of the dairy department.

The in-store bakery, as seen from the end of aisle 18.

The Marketplace interior was used from 1987 to 2000 when Winn-Dixie was once "America's Supermarket". This is signage for the dairy department.

Aisle 13 is home to health and beauty. If you go to the end of this aisle, then you will be at the pharmacy.

Example of meat department signage seen at Winn-Dixie.

The combined meat (Land) and seafood (Sea) counters are common in older Marketplace stores.

Wall paneling for the meat department in the store.

Aisle 6.

Frozen foods take up unmarked aisles 10 and 11. If you go one aisle after aisle 11, then signs will say aisle 10, but you are on aisle 12.

The store's customer service desk, as seen from the end of checkout 1.

The back side of checkouts 4 to 7. The signage for checkouts and aisles are from the Post-Marketplace Refresh interior.

Thank you for shopping at America's Supermarket, Winn-Dixie!

The two center doors are used for exiting the store. The left (and formerly right) doors are used for entering Winn-Dixie.

A now walled off portion of a former entrance door. The 31100 seen above the door is the address (31100 Cortez Blvd).

Only if all Winn-Dixie stores are America's Supermarket, then you would have no remodels!

  2. Just a small correction, this store is NOT original to it's opening format. The store was expanded and remodeled to the Marketplace format in 1995. The original store was smaller and had a different color palette. It is currently being remodeled now, and the evidence of it's original interior is being uncovered.
