A New Publix Prototype - Store #1722, Tampa, FL.

Publix #1722
4315 W. Gandy Blvd, Tampa, FL. - Gandy Commons

The new Gandy Publix opened on December 10, 2020 after almost 2 years of planning and construction.

This store replaced Winn-Dixie #2417, which existed until 2018.

Enter here to see the Evergreens of a new Publix store!

And welcome to Publix #1722! The welcome sign is larger than the previous Sienna design.

The new Publix stores have a grocery pickup section that is located next to customer service.

The Publix deli is located to the center of the grab and go/produce sections in these newer 48M (48,000 square foot) stores.

The grand aisle in store 1722 features mostly the produce department and a part of the deli.

The first aisle in the Gandy Publix, home to canned milk, cereal, and syrups.

The customer service desk as seen from the end of aisle 1.

A newer style of Publix Aprons counter, which is currently being used as a promotional display.

The first aisle in frozen foods is aisle 8, which follows the layout of a 2010's Publix store.

The back of the store, approaching the bakery and aisle 15. Dairy coolers are to my right.

The Publix bakery, located in the rear left corner of the store.

Aisle 15 is an entire aisle that is dedicated to wine and spirits. Normally this aisle would be the dairy department before 2019, so seeing wine in the last aisle is a huge difference!

After exiting aisle 15, the checkouts and health/beauty are straight ahead...

Even after the new Publix prototypes were introduced, the pharmacy is still in it's same place since 1987 if you count past Publix store models.

Even though that this sign says thank you, we are actually not leaving the store just yet!

This store has a total of 12 checkouts, featuring 4 self lanes and 8 regular checkouts.

Now taking the elevator up to floor 2...

After taking the KONE (pronounced "KOH-nay" or "KOH-neh") elevator up to the second floor, here is a look at the upstairs deli cafe!

Since I do not have an downstairs look of the store from the deli cafe in store 1722, I am using this image from the Bloomingdale store.

A look towards the restrooms and the fire emergency exit at the end of the deli cafe.

And for our final interior picture of the store, a newer Evergreen style express lanes sign!

You can even view the progress of the Crosstown Expressway's extension from the Publix parking lot!

And to conclude this new Publix, a Gandy Commons road sign!

  1. Publix 1722 at S. Manhattan Ave. and W Gandy Blvd. is my favorite store. It isn't as large as some, but it has all the essentials and more. (My 2nd fave is Publix 1653 at Westshore and W. Kennedy Blvd.)
