Kmart #9463
250 New Road, Somers Point, NJ - Somers Point Plaza

Opened on October 19, 2002 as the final Kmart store to be built when the company called Kmart Corporation filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

This store will close in December 2019 as a part of Sears Holdings store closures, marking an end to the Somers Point Kmart after 17 years in operation.

The view that you get after entering through the entrances.

The three home sections (bath/bedding and home decor) are straight ahead.

The pharmacy department at Kmart. (New Jersey laws require the word department to be written after the pharmacy)

Appliances and other household products, about to approach the toys section located near layaway.

Also note the exposed ceiling, because this was a 2002-built Kmart store.

The two signs for the toys section, as seen from appliances.

Kmart's toy zone.

Located next to the toys section, is the sporting goods department, or the "SportCenter" (not to be confused with the ESPN program!)

This Kmart even has a dedicated section for pets, which is rare for a newly built Kmart!

Our final look of clothing before we check out.

An example of Kmart checkouts, with belt-driven registers! There are a total of 8 checkouts in the store.

The Little Caesars Pizza Station, which on the store's map, is indicated as the "cafe".

This might be our final photo of Kmart, because of the thank you sign, but this is not it!

Now it's time for the Garden Center...

The outside entrance to the garden center.

Notice that there is no divider between the main store and the garden section!

For the last built Kmart in the US, say goodbye to the big red K here soon!
