The 3 former Gandy Winn-Dixie stores - Tampa, FL

Winn-Dixie/Jan Kaminis Platt Regional Libary
3910 S. Manhattan Ave, Tampa, FL

Opening date for the former Winn-Dixie is unknown. Closed in 1996 to relocate to 4479 W. Gandy Blvd. Rebuilt in 2000 and became the Jan Kaminis Platt Regional Library.

Winn-Dixie #643/Grace Family Church
4479 W. Gandy Blvd, Tampa, FL

Opened in 1996 as Winn-Dixie #643 (the second Gandy Winn-Dixie), and closed in 2005 after the bankruptcy of Winn-Dixie Stores. Became Grace Family Church in 2016. Compare this outside look to the liquor store, which still has the diamonds from Winn-Dixie!

Winn-Dixie Liquors/Amscot #21
4481 W. Gandy Blvd, Tampa, FL

Opened in 1996 as Winn-Dixie Liquors, and closed in 2005, the same year when the main store closed. Currently Amscot #21.

The diamonds from Winn-Dixie are still in place! This store would have had the Marketplace interior when it was a Winn-Dixie.

Now to the third and final Gandy Winn-Dixie...

The Family Mart/Florida Choice/Kash n' Karry #1728/Sweetbay #1728/Winn-Dixie #2417/Publix #1722
4315 W. Gandy Blvd, Tampa, FL

Opened in 1977 as The Family Mart, a store that was operated by A&P. Reopened as Florida Choice in 1987. In 1988, Kroger (the company that owned Florida Choice) sold this store to Kash n' Karry. Kash n' Karry #1728 came in the building, and started a more successful store. Next came Sweetbay #1728, which opened in 2005. Sweetbay closed on April 12, 2014 in order to convert this store into Winn-Dixie. Winn-Dixie #2417 opened on April 18, 2014, and closed in 2018 after this store was underperforming

The former Winn-Dixie space was demolished in early 2020 in order to build Publix #1722, which opened on December 10th of that year. A post on that store can be viewed here.

Now, we are about to check out and leave the store.

The back of checkouts 1 to 5. This store had 7 checkouts until Winn-Dixie's closing.
