Walgreens in Hawaii? (Store #12072, Honolulu)

Walgreens #95XX/Walgreens #12072
1488 Kapiolani Blvd, Honolulu, HI

Opened on November 2, 2007 at the site of a Tower Records store, and was 11,000 square feet. Later demolished in 2013 for the new store. Reopened on February 21, 2015, and is currently 35,576 square feet.

These photos are a mix of ones from Yelp and Foursquare, with the oldest photos first.

(Update: 2.5 years after writing this post, this Walgreens closed on June 1, 2020)

The 2007 store had two combined entrances. The new store does not.

The store's pharmacy, as seen prior to 2015. Also, 2007 interior decor from Walgreens, which actually reminds me of Eckerd's interior!

Let's jump into present day with photos from the new store!

An overview of the 2015-built Walgreens store, with level 1 representing sea, and level 2 representing the land, because this is Hawaii!

Because there is zero outside parking, we are going to spend our 30 minutes in this garage and the entire store (or known as the "Walgreens 500")

Now that we got our tickets, let's jump to the main level of parking!

Welcome to Walgreens, but we are actually going to (magically) come down to Level 1 first.

What you get after entering thorough the outside doors, you see the Upmarket section, followed by perishables and other products on this floor.

A look at the sushi section.

Thirsty for a Coke? Get it here at the drinks section! Also, Hawaiian words are placed under English words for your convenience!

Frozen foods, as seen on level 1.

Aisle 13, with the wine & beer signage hanging above aisle 15.

This Walgreens even has it's own beer cave! Just find it when you see Wine + Beer!

Now that we are done with level 1, let's take the escalators to level 2 and the pharmacy!

But before we go up to level 2, here is a directory of this Walgreens store.

Going up to level 2, with a view of the 2015-installed escalator.

Here we are at level 2, with a look at (nearly) the entire section of this floor.

Aisle 29, with the beauty signage shown above.

Aisle 25 is home to laxatives, mouthwash, and oral care products.

Aisle 22.

The upstairs pharmacy department. This might have been seen from the waiting area.

A look down aisle 18, which is home to laundry and pet food.

A Walgreens with a nail salon? That's only in Hawaii!

Now that we completed our look at level 2, now we are going down to level 1!

From the escalators, we are looking towards the Upmarket section of the store.

This Hawaii Walgreens even has it's own Hello Kitty section for the kids!

Now it's time to get a cup of Dole Whip yogurt! There are no refills, so fill it up as high as you can!

Get your frozen yogurt toppings in 4 easy steps!

Now approaching the checkout area. This store even has a queuing system for the cashiers!

6 out of the 8 registers are shown here.

Back up at level 2, this is a picture of the entrance/exit door.

About time to leave the parking garage and head to HON airport, or other places around Honolulu!

Now approaching the off-ramp and pay station to the Walgreens parking area.

Good night from your Honolulu Walgreens!
