The End of Gooding's Supermarkets
On May 12, 2020, the last Gooding's Supermarket on State Road 535 in Orlando permanently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and expansion of the 535 exit as part of the I-4 Ultimate project.
Albertsons Florida Blog has a post on this particular Gooding's that was uploaded in 2017, with photos taken in May 2016. That post can be seen here.
Here are some screenshots of the former website, which looks like something out of 2000!
The terms Award-Winning Bakery and Orlando's Best Deli now belong to Publix!
Gooding's used to offer meal kits, but not anymore!
Gooding's, a store that once was "Orlando's Hometown Supermarket".
Now to the same website, but back during it’s peak in 1999:
Extra specials for bakery and meats, but nowadays you won't find prices this low!
Do you have this Value Card? I may still have it in my archives, but it will no longer work as of 2020.
9 Gooding's stores were sold to Winn-Dixie in 2000.
1999, back when there were dial-up connections, 56k modems (56 kbps), and Windows 98! Do you miss having websites look like this?
There were 11 Gooding's locations throughout Central Florida in 1999. Now there are none.
These savings were in the Gooding's Value Card! You won't find prices like these anymore at Publix!
Say farewell to:
Gooding's Chain (1961-2020)
Gooding's of LBV (1988-2020)
Note: The 2 stores in Orange County refer to the former International Drive location and the former Water Tower Shops stores. The last Gooding's was located in Osceola County, off of State Road 535.
